As professional service providers, MSI members often highlight the importance of the key people in a client business meeting regularly, reviewing the recent past and planning for the future.
Readers may be pleased to know that the MSI ANZ Group member firms also practice what they preach in this regard.
In mid-September, all of the current twelve MSI member firms in Australia and New Zealand gathered in Adelaide for a full day of meetings – and we were pleased to have been joined by MSI’s London based CEO, James Mendelssohn. James was able to outline a number of international issues that will affect the way in which our own firms and those of our clients do business in specific parts of the world. These MSI ANZ Group meetings are held twice year and are always well-attended. The reason for this is simple: as members of MSI we are all increasingly working together on client projects that affect the ways in which our clients do business. Ultimately, our clients trust in us to provide the right local legal and accounting contacts in cities all around, Australia, New Zealand and the world. From a client perspective it is important to know that a network such as MSI thrives because the partners in the constituent firms really do know each other well. As MSI firms we all view our regular meetings as very important dates in the calendar. So whether clients require assistance on a trans-Tasman matter, an inter-State matter or an international matter they can be sure that the MSI network is built upon solid relationships. As such the members and, indeed, the MSI Secretariat in London take the appointment of a new member firm very seriously. It is important that any new entrant have established relationships with one or more members currently in the group, and this is the case with our latest member, Chamberlains Law Firm, which has enjoyed a strong relationship with Patterson Houen and Commins for many years.
A Canberra based law firm, Chamberlains has a reputation for delivering high level expert advice, professionalism and reliability based on integrity, relevance and a clear understanding of and an ability to meet clients’ needs.
Chamberlains staff bring a broad set of skills and experience from both the government and private sector, and the firm adopts a team approach to ensure that clients are able to fully utilise the excellent and varied skills of the firm’s practitioners.
The organisation also has a strong commitment to the community through pro-bono work and active engagement with many sporting and community bodies in the ACT and Nationally.
Chamberlains is a valuable addition to the MSI Network, and we look forward to working with the firm to deliver quality legal advice to clients across the country in 2007. Jim Smith MSI Ragg Weir
